PROJECT BACKGROUND

REMOTE WORKING

With the improvement of technology, remote working had been a rising trend among employers and employees. COVID-19 catalysed this process and made working from home a default globally. Employers and employees have realised the benefit and adapted to this new arrangement, with many companies even deciding to change their work arrangements for the foreseeable future in favour of flexibility.

However, many workers face problems with this new norm, such as the lack of a conducive home office or inability to separate work life from home life. Therefore, how can we support the needs of remote workers to help them work more productively and lead the enriching lives they desire?

USER RESEARCH

We conducted several Zoom interviews with employees who were working from their homes or splitting their work days between their homes and offices. We manages to gain insights into the different problems employees and supervisors face at work, as well as how work affects their personal lives and vice versa.

WORKANYWHERE

After many rounds of interviews and ideations, we came up with WorkAnywhere, a service that complements the new way of living, where work and life are integrated.

WorkAnywhere envisions a new way to connect workers to decentralised workspaces. These workspaces are converted from under-utilised places in our neighbourhoods, into a space that is conducive for work. An online platform then connects users to these spaces according to users’ preferences and requirements. This allows remote workers to have more control over where and when they want to work, allowing flexibility without compromising productivity.
